BAD: RUN DEFENSE

Once again, the Chiefs run defense got taken to the woodshed. David Johnson had been held back quite a bit this season, as the Cardinals’ line hasn’t been able to open up lanes for him.

Well, Johnson returned to the David Johnson we all are used to watching, gashing the Chiefs on the ground. The Cardinals running back totaled 98 yards on 22 carries and a rushing touchdown.

The good news is that aside from Johnson, Arizona’s run game was in the negatives. Ninety-eight yards allowed, however, isn’t good enough for a team that wants to make it far come January. We saw the run defense get destroyed by the Titans in the playoffs last year and if this doesn’t get shored up, it could be the same story come playoff time.

BAD: PENALTIES

While this wasn’t as embarrassing as some previous outings, the Chiefs still saw their fair share of penalties on Sunday. They had the flag thrown in their direction eight times costing them 63 yards. The Cardinals had just three penalties for 30 yards.

Penalties can lose teams games and the Chiefs need to make sure they get this sloppiness fixed. Otherwise, we could be in for a disappointing loss in a few months.
