Kansas City Chiefs: Good, Bad, Not So Ugly vs Bengals in week 7 of 2018
GOOD: DEFENSE (FINALLY!)
I’ve been tough on the Chiefs defense this year, but I’ve had every right to be. They’ve been atrocious and been ranked last in nearly every category.
In this game, however, the Chiefs defense was fantastic! They held Andy Dalton to under 150 yards through the air while picking him off once (Ron Parker to the hoooouuuussseeee!) and sacking him twice. Dalton didn’t stand a chance on Sunday night and was eventually removed from the game because there was no chance of the Bengals making a comeback.
The run defense had been a huge liability too, but they stepped up big time in primetime. Joe Mixon had just 50 yards on the ground, though to be fair, Cincinnati had to turn to the air after getting down by so much in the game.
I’m not sure if Bob Sutton made some great adjustments for this game or if the Bengals offense was just having a really bad night, but whatever the case may be, I was all about seeing Kansas City’s defense finally have a shutdown night.
If this defense can stick around for the duration of the season, maybe, just MAYBE, I’ll start thinking Super Bowl.
