START ‘EM – RB

One of the surprise stars from last weekend was Chris Thompson, who was one of Alex Smith‘s favorite weapons in the season opener. Thompson had 63 yards through the air and another 65 via the ground. He also found the end zone on a receiving pass from Smith.

Thompson’s impressive performance got his fantasy owners a whopping 24.8 points and now it’s tough to merit anyone benching him. He might not be the most talented running back in D.C., but Thompson and Smith clearly have chemistry and that will only lead to more targets and more points.

Thompson emerged as a star for the Redskins in week one and now he’ll get a much easier opponent in the Colts, whose defense is pretty bad. Indy surrendered 149 yards and a touchdown to Joe Mixon last week, so the odds for Thompson to have a good game is pretty high.

The only reason to be a bit weary is that he and Adrian Peterson will be splitting carries, but Thompson still will make some noise and get your fantasy team some much needed points. Roll with Thompson as a RB2 or Flex option this weekend.
