Nebraska football will finally get to play this weekend, but their opponent is going to be much more difficult than Akron would have been.

Adrian Martinez will make his Nebraska Cornhuskers debut on Saturday and it’ll be interesting to see how the true freshman does in his first start since 2016. The kid might struggle at times, but he’s got all season to figure things out and polish them up.

More from Nebraska Cornhuskers

Colorado has a slew of weapons on offense, including Laviska Shenault Jr., who went for over 200 yards last year in the Buffs’ season opener. Shenault was on fire, but Colorado State isn’t quite the program that Nebraska is. The Huskers hopefully have a game plan to slow him down along with the other Buff weapons.

I’m excited to see Nebraska football in action and going up against a former Big 12 foe makes it even more exciting. Colorado went 5-7 last year, but showed real offensive prowess in their season opener. Defensively, they allowed just 13 points and shut the Rams down for the most part.

Will Nebraska be able to get their first victory of the Scott Frost era? We’ll find out on Saturday.
