FANTASY FOOTBALL ROOKIES TO TARGET: NUMBER 10 – KERRYON JOHNSON

The Detroit Lions picked up Kerryon Johnson in the second round of the draft and he’ll be competing with LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick, and Ameer Abdullah for carries. Johnson being as high of a draft pick as he was should guarantee him a decent amount of playing time as a rookie.

Johnson had an electric year with Auburn last season, rushing for 1,391 yards and 18 touchdowns. While he was utilized in the passing game, he had less than 200 yards receiving, but did make it into the end zone twice, giving him a total of 20 touchdowns on the entire season.

That’s the type of production fantasy owners obviously dream of, but Kerryon Johnson probably won’t replicate that. In fact, there’s a good chance that he doesn’t even come close to those numbers.

While Johnson has a shot at starting at running back for Detroit, it’s still unclear as to how the team plans to use the other three guys on the roster (or if all three of them will even make the team). Kerryon Johnson, if the starter or second stringer, is worth a mid round to late pick in your drafts.
