FANTASY FOOTBALL ROOKIES TO TARGET: NUMBER 15 – MIKE GESICKI

The lone tight end included on this list of rookies is Mike Gesicki, who the Miami Dolphins drafted in the second round. Julius Thomas never lived up to the hype after he no longer had a Hall of Fame quarterback throwing to him, so the Dolphins moved on from that chapter and added Gesicki to their offense.

Gesicki is coming off a nine-touchdown campaign in 2017 with Penn State and was a proven red zone target during his time with the Nittany Lions. While his yardage numbers aren’t anything to write home about, Gesicki is a big guy and presents a good mismatch opportunity for the Dolphins.

While I wouldn’t advise drafting Gesicki early or even in the middle rounds, he’s someone you can keep an eye on late in the draft as a backup tight end option. He’s a talented athlete, but with all of the offensive weapons Miami has, I don’t see Mike Gesicki being the one Ryan Tannehill is always throwing to.

Mike Gesicki might even go through some drafts without being picked up. If that’s the case, go after him on the waiver wire! He’ll be a solid backup option and has the ability to become a solid fantasy football sleeper this year.
