Fantasy Football: Top 15 Running Backs to Target in 2018
Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook
One of my favorite running backs coming out of the 2017 NFL Draft was Dalvin Cook. He reminded me so much of former Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles. His quick, shifty run style resembled Charles in which I haven’t seen from any other young running back coming into the league. He even mentioned Charles as one of the running backs that he built his style around.
Unfortunately, Cook’s rookie season was shattered due to an ACL tear in Week 4 last year. Before his injury, Cook was an explosive weapon rushing out of the Vikings backfield and considering his injury was early in the season; he should be fully healthy and ready to go for the Vikings offense.
Minnesota was one game away from making it to the Super Bowl last year. Replacing McKinnon for Cook could have taken that Vikings offense to the next level in a season that looked promising. Even if the Vikings decide to take it easy on the young back as he returns from injury, he should still see plenty of snaps to build his fantasy points.
The only concern for Cook is fellow running back Latavius Murray who will likely get most of the goal-line snaps for the Vikings. Murray was a top-five running back in carries in the red zone so even if Cook can get half of those carries, he could be in for a major fantasy season.
