#13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an unusual situation at the tight end position going into 2018. The franchise drafted O.J. Howard last offseason at 19th overall and then signed fellow tight end Cameron Brate to a nice extension this offseason.

It’s interesting for a team to draft a tight end in the first round and then turn around to sign a nice extension to one of your other tight ends. Regardless, Howard has every opportunity to take the starting job sooner rather than later for Brate.

Over the final five games of 2017, Howard scored in three of those games. He also had a breakout game against the Buffalo Bills where he took the ball to the house twice to accompany his 98 receiving yards.

While Brate is still around, that doesn’t take away from Howard’s significant play abilities. During his rookie season, Howard averaged 16.6 YAC which speaks volumes of his playmaking abilities. He will see a couple of passers this season as quarterback Jameis Winston is suspended for the first four games. Look for Howard to be fighting for that starting job this season.
