2018 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft

New York Jets – Leigh Oleszczak

3. player. 30. . Quarterback. UCLA. Josh Rosen

The Jets swapped picks with the Colts several weeks ago surely believing that this would get them one of the best quarterbacks in the draft. They wound up getting who I believe to be THE best quarterback in the draft in Josh Rosen.

Rosen has been criticized a lot for being “a millennial” and all of that jazz, but he’s the safest pick in the draft and the Jets could use a guy like that. Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater aren’t going to be their long-term plans, but both should be able to mentor Rosen in his first year as an NFL pro.

The Jets trading up absolutely ended up being a good thing. They got their quarterback of the future and that’s all that matters in the NFL these days.

Staff Reaction: I liked Sam Darnold better in this spot. Josh Rosen probably has a little bit higher ceiling, but his crash-and-burn potential is much higher. If I’m GM Mike Maccagnan, I take the safer pick. – Scott Steehn
