Every Royals first-round draft pick since 2000: Jackson Kowar (2018)

The Royals decided to add not one, but two pitchers from the University of Florida in 2018, adding Brady Singer and his college teammate Jackson Kowar with their first two picks. We already discussed Singer, but Kowar contributed in the minor leagues this past season.

Kowar was a big part of the Lexington Legends team that won the 2018 South Atlantic title, posting a 3.42 ERA in nine appearances and throwing in 26.1 innings. He had 22 strikeouts on the mound.

It’d be really cool if both Kowar and Singer panned out because that could give the Royals their one and two starters for many years to come. The two are already familiar with one another, having spent their college careers together in Gainesville.

Hopefully, Kowar can become a key member of the Royals rotation in the coming years, but for now, he’s still a champ in Lexington.
