APRIL 25TH, 2014 VS ORIOLES

In just his seventh career big league start, Ventura cruised against the Baltimore Orioles in a late April matchup at Camden Yards.

Ventura threw for eight innings of no run baseball. He allowed seven hits, walked two guys, and struck out eight batters.

This is all even more impressive when you consider that there was an hour-long rain delay that probably put even more pressure on Ventura. He prevailed though and this is the performance that made everyone else in Major League Baseball notice Yordano Ventura.

Ventura’s ERA lowered from 2.65 to 1.80 after this gem of a performance and it’s one that Royals nation will cherish forever.

SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2014 VS INDIANS

With the 2014 season nearing the end and the Royals competing to make it into the postseason for the first time in 29 years, the pressure was on for Ventura in his second to last start of the regular season.

Yo dominated, throwing seven innings of four-hit baseball and shutting out the Indians. The offense helped out their pitcher by putting seven runs on the board and giving the Royals a big win to help push them towards the playoffs.

Ventura was sensational in this game, striking out six batters and lowering his ERA to 3.07 on the year.
