Pass Rush

The defense for the Kansas City Chiefs has been based largely on the dominance of the pass rush.  Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the prime move of that pass rush is unavailable as Justin Houston rehabs from knee surgery.  To add to the problem, Tamba Hali has yet to take the field for the Chiefs, and his health is uncertain right now.  That means it is Dee Ford and Frank Zombo who have to supply the pressure from the outside.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, neither Dee Ford or Frank Zombo have shown the ability to provide a consistent pass rush.  While Ford did have a strong game against the Chargers in 2015, he has not shown the ability to consistently be effective in that role.  In fact, it has been a matter of constant worry for Chiefs fans.

Dee Ford has to make it happen this season, and it has to start this week.  If Ford can recapture what he showed against San Diego last year, the Chiefs should score a big win.  If he can’t, Philip Rivers will have time to attack Kansas City’s young secondary.
