KC Chiefs: Five Free Agents Still Available To Sign
Free Agents Still Available – Number 3: Hakeem Nicks
Hakeem Nicks used to be one hell of a receiver for the New York Giants, but went downhill after the 2011 season. He could be a decent candidate for the KC Chiefs to look at, as they’re needing more wide receiver depth and Nicks has played in the league for seven seasons.
He’s still got gas left in the tank and this could be yet another one-year contract worth shelling out.
Right now, the Chiefs have Jeremy Maclin as a for sure starter come week one. The other spot is likely going to go to either Chris Conley or Albert Wilson, and signing Nicks probably wouldn’t change that.
What Nicks could bring is a third or fourth receiver in the fold that is experienced and could come in on big plays to help Smith out. He’s still got gas left in the tank and this could be yet another one-year contract worth shelling out.
Nicks isn’t going to sign with the Chiefs and go on to score tons of touchdowns, but he’s an experienced receiver and that could be a huge difference maker for the young wide receivers currently on the roster.
