Free Agents Still Available – Number 4: Owen Daniels

We all know how much Alex Smith likes to throw to the tight end, so signing an experienced tight end could be a good idea for Kansas City.

One of the most experienced tight ends still on the market is Owen Daniels, who was with the Denver Broncos last season for their Super Bowl victory. He had three touchdowns this past year and over 500 yards receiving in 16 starts.

We all know how much Alex Smith likes to throw to the tight end, so signing an experienced tight end could be a good idea for Kansas City.

Now obviously the Chiefs would roll with Travis Kelce as their starting tight end, but Daniels would provide solid depth should (knock on wood) anything happen to Kelce. Also, he could be a good mentor for former fifth-round pick James O’Shaughnessy.

Tight end isn’t a huge need for Kansas City to address this offseason, which is probably why they haven’t at all, but the guys behind Kelce are Demetrius Harris, O’Shaughnessy, and Brian Parker. Not exactly scary names by any means.

Owen Daniels could be nearing the end of his career, but a one-year deal for the long time Houston Texan could potentially work out.
