KC Chiefs Roster Options After Houston ACL Catastrophe
By Bobby Miller
Tautvydas Kieras
This picture probably surprised you, but not nearly as much as Kieras signing did for Chiefs fans and I. Out of all the linebacker signings Dorsey has made this offseason, the signing of Kieras probably caught me the most off guard. The fact that he threw discus in college is one thing, but Kieras has never played organized football.

It seems as though the Chiefs could not resist taking a chance on him based on the pro day numbers he put up. He repped 225 lbs. 24 times which would have been good enough for 27th among all defensive linemen and linebackers in this year’s draft class.
His 4.69 unofficial 40-time would have been tied for 11th best among all linebackers and defensive ends in this draft class. His 35” vertical leap would have tied for tenth best, and his 9’8” broad jump would have been good enough to tie for 16th best.
Kind of like Dontari Poe, Kieras is a raw prospect who has the physical tools necessary to play linebacker. The question moving forward is whether he can learn the position fast enough to make the roster.
It’s tough to say at this point, but this will definitely be an interesting story line this offseason.
