KC Royals: Five Early Spring Training Overreactions
By Scott Dillon

Four: Kyle Zimmer makes scoreless debut. He’ll be the staff Ace of 2016.
Something like this could actually happen, but he’s going to have to prove a lot to get to that point. He’s been injured for most of his professional career, so to assume he’s going to take on a full workload is somewhat premature.
Even today, he battled a stomach ailment. It didn’t hinder his performance as he struck out two in two scoreless innings of work. It would be nice however, to hear Kyle Zimmer‘s name without the word ‘ailment’ in a related sentence.
So nice seeing @kylezimmer11 healthy and pitching. #studPitcher

This could be true someday. But he’s got to spend more time on a lineup card and less time on an injury report for this to happen.
Kyle Zimmer is fighting for a spot in the rotation but so are a lot of other candidates. Perhaps a few more scoreless outings could actually see him crack the rotation to start the season.
