Kansas City Royals: Walk Out Songs For Pitchers
The Royals’ pitching staff will look to improve it’s rotation while maintaining it’s bullpen dominance in 2016.
If the Royals’ pitchers are known for anything as a collective unit, it’s their dominant bullpen. For the last couple of seasons, opposing teams have made it a point of emphasis to try and lead after six innings. None of them wanted to try and mount a comeback against a group of relievers as good as the Royals’ bullpen.
Their bullpen has been ‘bulldog-ish’ when it comes to facing opponents. They don’t back down from anyone and approach the hitters with a ‘I dare you to hit it’ attitude.
The Royals’ pitching staff song is “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
The lyrics “Come on swing it, 1 2 3 now we come to the pay off” captures the staff’s attitude. If hitters want to swing, that’s just fine because the Royals are backed by one of the premier defenses in the league.
One Royals’ player who didn’t make the list, mainly because he’s no longer on the team, is Jeremy Guthrie. If he could have a walk-out song this year perhaps “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift would be appropriate given his 2015 performance.
While his 2015 performance was certainly troublesome, Guthrie brought a veteran presence and winning attitude to the team that shouldn’t go unrecognized. His leadership and knack for clubhouse celebrations will truly be missed.
Because of all of the intangible elements he brought to the team and the winning culture he helped produce, Guthrie should forever by remembered by the fans. Guthrie’s more appropriate walk-out song is “Thanks For The Memories” by Fallout Boy
The title pretty much says it all in regards to Guthrie, but the lyrics “Thanks for the memories, Even though they weren’t so great” seem really fitting. Jeremy Guthrie will be missed by fans and players alike.
The Royals’ pitching staff is getting ready to begin their season as they report to Spring Training tomorrow. It’s going to be another exciting year of action for the Royals in 2016 as they look to repeat their great 2015 campaign.
