Kyle Zimmer

Kyle Zimmer seems to constantly be on the brink of making an impact for the Royals. He’s got the ‘stuff’ to be a front-line starter for the Royals someday, if he can ever stay healthy.

He’s only 24 years old so it’s still too early to consider this pick to be a bust. In fact, once he is over his injury bug he’ll likely be one of the better picks the Royals have ever made.

More from KC Kingdom

Zimmer has eye popping numbers in the minor leagues with 259 strike outs in just 216.2 innings of work. He also has good control which has seen him issue only 68 free passes.

Zimmer has been projected to make an impact for the Royals on three separate occasions now. He was expected to debut late in 2013 and again in 2014 but bone spurs and biceps tendinitis put an end to any hopes of that happening. Surgery late in 2014 led to a delayed start in 2015 that kept him in the minors for yet another season.

If Zimmer can go to Spring Training and put together some good numbers, Royals’ fans may finally get to see him pitching at Kauffman stadium. Because of the extended time it’s taken Zimmer to get to the Major Leagues, his song choice is “Africa” By Toto

This song was chosen for one line of lyrics, “Hurry boy, It’s waiting there for you”. The Royals and their fans have been in a rush to see Zimmer pitch and it feels like his spot is just waiting for him.
