The Royals Will Send Nine Players To The All-Star Game

In 2015, the KC Royals’ fans showed their support by sending seven Royals’ players to the All-Star game. It appeared as though their 2014 Cinderella story had captured the hearts of the nation as the votes poured in nationally.

The Royals sent Lorenzo Cain, Alcides Escobar, Salvador Perez, Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera, Mike Moustakas and Alex Gordon to the All-Star game in 2015. Gordon was unable to play due to his mid-season injury, but was still chosen to represent the Royals.

Based on the outpouring of support the Royals got when they fell just short of a title, there is no reason to start questioning the love they’ll recieve on the All-Star ballot this year.

More from Kansas City Royals

Eric Hosmer doesn’t have the gaudy numbers of other American League first basemen, but if he lives up to his bold prediction, he may just crack his first All-Star lineup. If his crazy dash for home wasn’t enough to captivate America and earn him a few extra votes, I’d be surprised.

If Yordano Ventura maintains his second-half breakout, there is no reason to think he’s not capable of earning some votes. As much as everyone loves an underdog story, people seem to love second-chances even more. Yordano Ventura seems rehabilitated, and people may pay attention to that.

The Royals’ wanted home-field advantage in the World Series last season and many of their players had a hand in helping to earn that. Look for them to campaign for more in 2016.
