Round Three: Knile Davis

Grade: C

Knile Davis‘ draft grade is dropping about as rapidly as he drops footballs.

Davis looked promising when the Chiefs drafted him out of Arkansas late in the third-round of the 2013 draft. He could not only get those ‘bruising’ yards that changed pace with Jamaal Charles, but he was a good on special teams also.

In his career, Davis has three kick return touchdowns including the playoffs. Davis also has 14 total touchdowns rushing or receiving having been named the starter only twice.

Anyone that has seen ‘Remember the Titans’ can tell you that fumbling the football is not acceptable.

With those numbers it would seem the Davis isn’t a bust, but Davis’ problems stem from his inability to secure the football. Anyone that has seen ‘Remember the Titans’ can tell you that fumbling the football is not acceptable.

Not only does Davis fumble a lot, he seems to fumble at the worst possible times. There’s never a good time to fumble, but some situations are worse than others. Driving down the field for the potential go ahead score against New England isn’t ideal.

Davis went from being Charles’ backup during his first two season, to not even suiting up when Charles went down in 2015. He was replaced by a running back that went undrafted in 2014, and a running back that went three-rounds later than Davis did in 2013.

While an ‘F’ grade seems fitting (‘F’ stands for fumble), Davis has made some contributions to the team.
