Kansas City Chiefs: A Look Back At The 2015 Season
Even though the Chiefs lost in the next round of the playoffs, it was a successful season for the 11-5 team.
Before the 2015 season began, I predicted the Kansas City Chiefs to go 12-4, win the AFC West, and finally win a playoff game. Ultimately, I was only one game off, barely was off on the division title prediction, and accurately called them winning in the postseason.
I had high hopes for this Chiefs team heading into the season and while they didn’t get to the playoffs the way that I thought they would, they still got there and that’s really all that matters.

The team easily could have given up after falling to 1-5 on the year, but they kept grinding and in doing so, were able to accomplish something that hadn’t been done in KC football in 22 years. They also did this without their star running back in the back field. Truly a remarkable season.
Moving forward, the sky’s the limit for this Chiefs team. If they can re-sign key players like Eric Berry, Derrick Johnson, and Sean Smith, the defense will mostly be intact and could still be a dominant force in the league.
Now, however, it’s time to look forward to free agency and the draft. Both of these areas were huge reasons for the Chiefs’ success in 2015 (signing Jeremy Maclin in free agency and selecting guys like Marcus Peters and Mitch Morse in the draft) so there’s no reason not to think they can continue to build during these two stages.
