1. October 17, 1994; defeated Denver Broncos 31-28
Quarterbacks Joe Montana and John Elway clashed in an instant classic in Denver’s Mile High Stadium.
Elway led the Broncos on a late-game touchdown drive, taking a 28-24 lead with just under three minutes remaining in the game. It proved to be entirely too much time to give The Comeback Kid.
Montana went into surgeon mode.
Pass, run, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, (touchdown) pass. From Kansas City’s 25 yard-line, Montana went 8-for-8 passing and finished the drive with a pinpoint five-yard touchdown to receiver Willie Davis.
Eight seconds remained in the game. That’s heartless, Joe.
Here are the highlights (via Youtube.com), and watching Shannon Sharpe watch the lead slip away makes it sweeter. Recommended: Watch & Relive:

Vintage Chiefs. Not sure it can get any better.
Montana finished 34-for-54 for 393 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Running back Marcus Allen, who actually almost fumbled the game away, and receiver J.J. Birden both found the endzone.
Quarterback Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins ended the Chiefs season in the 1994 Wild Card game.
