The Kansas City Chiefs will kick off their 2017 Training Camp on July 28th. Between now and then, we will break down all of the upcoming position battles. We’ll start it off with the most important position on the field, the quarterbacks.
Training Camp for the Kansas City Chiefs is right around the corner. That’s right, football season really is almost upon us. As the Chiefs prepare to head back to St Joe’s, Missouri for another hot camp session, I’ll be breaking down what to look for from the comfort of my home office. We kick it off with the most interesting position this year, the quarterbacks.
As always, the quarterback position in Kansas City is a hot button issue. Of course, this year it is for an entirely different reason. The Chiefs did the unthinkable (at least as far as the Chiefs go) and selected a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft. Not only that, but they traded up to do it!
However, the selection of Patrick Mahomes really hasn’t changed much for the 2017 season. Alex Smith is still expected to be the starter this year unless things go bad. We all pretty much knew that was coming. Of course, that hasn’t stopped some from trying to stir up a quarterback controversy in KC.
While there may not be any controversy regarding the quarterback position, there is certainly excitement. Practically everyone in Chiefs Kingdom is jumping aboard the Patrick Mahomes bandwaggon so far. Hopefully the young man will live up to expectations.
