After pushing their record one game above .500, the Kansas City Royals are now knocking on the door of the AL Central. As of now, only Cleveland and Minnesota stand in their way.

Who would have thought. After a horrendous start to the season, along with some terrible lows, the Kansas City Royals are now two games out of the lead of the AL Central. Even though that does not guarantee a spot in the playoffs, the Royals seem to be streaking at the best time possible.

Their schedule just could not be better acclimated for a run to the top. Once the Royals complete their series with the Toronto Blue Jays they begin four road games with the Detroit Tigers. After that, they start a series at Kauffman Stadium with the Minnesota Twins. Along with these favorable games for division separation, the Twins are currently playing the Indians.

It does not necessarily ensure wins for the Royals, but it makes losses for their division rivals likely. The Royals just need to keep this run going. Even though there are some serious highs for this ball club right now, it could easily do a 180 at any moment. Which is why I agree with Leigh Oleszczak on the Royals current situation.

A World Series is worth all you can muster for, so the Royals should buy in.

I have a love hate relationship with this statement. I can pull up several articles that state me saying otherwise. This turnaround for the Royals is pleasant for the fan side of me, but for a sports analyst standpoint it is downright cringe worthy. I personally hate going back on my word, but I will admit it, I was wrong.

From telling Ned Yost he needs to reload his team, to saying the dark years are returning. From saying that Moustakas may be on a one way trip to Boston, to saying that Alex Gordon is the Royals’ downfall (which may still be true). Yes, I was wrong. Pleasantly wrong. The Royals are back in it and the positives just keep coming.

They are releasing Chris Young, and they are ready to sign new closers like Neftali Feliz. The Indians should be worried, and the Twins should definitely be worried when they come to Kansas City next week. The boys in blue are back in top shape and the core of this team should have one last chance for a World Series.

Taking first place in the AL Central is now not only possible, but a very likely scenario. If the Royals continue the way they are playing they should be buying and getting ready for the postseason. Not getting ready to sell their star players. One thing is for sure this turnaround is a complete shock, but we should be used to it, right? We are all Raised Royal for a reason.
