The Kansas City Royals are about to roll into Minnesota for the second time this season and will be playing the Twins for the third time in 2017. The Royals have yet to win a game against the Twins, which is really quite sad.

The Twins are leading the American League Central so far this season, which just goes to show just how winnable the division is at this point of the year. The Twins, posting a record of 20-17, have had Kansas City’s number in 2017 and it’s time for that to change.

The Royals are coming off a series loss to the New York Yankees (who they’ll play again in just four days) and are in need of redemption. The Twins haven’t just beat the Royals in their two series so far, they’ve smoked them. It hasn’t been pretty watching these two teams compete.

The Royals need to start adding more to the win column and a good series against the Twins would be the perfect way to do that.

Now let’s take a look at the Royals to watch in their upcoming series against the Twinkies.

JORGE BONIFACIO

No one expected Jorge Bonifacio to be staying up in Kansas City this long, but here we are several weeks after his initial call up and he’s still donning that beautiful Royals uniform.

Part of that is that Bonifacio has been one of the few guys to produce for the offense. In 22 games and 63 at bats, Bonifacio has posted a slash line of .254/.324/.365 with two home runs and six RBI.

While no one is clamoring for Bonifacio to be the leadoff guy, he’s still producing in this lineup and that’s nothing to scoff at. Many thought he might be sent back to Omaha once Jorge Soler joined the team, but there’s no reason to demote Bonifacio. He’s hitting and that’s his most important job at the moment.
