NFL Network will run their annual Top 100 Players from the league over the next month and the Kansas City Chiefs should see several players crack the list.

Well, the NFL Draft is over so now it’s time to get to the other stories floating around out there in NFL land. NFL Network will begin airing the Top 100 Players series on Monday evening and it’ll run numbers 100-81. The following week will be 80-61, and so on until we get all the way to the best player in the NFL this past season.

What I like about these rankings are that they’re voted on by the players themselves. No one knows these guys better than their own teammates and opponents and that’s what makes this countdown fun. They can’t rank themselves and have to really think about who the best of the best are in the National Football League.

Obviously all Chiefs Kingdom cares about with the Top 100 Players is which numbers the KC Chiefs are ranked at. Quite a few should make this list, as the Chiefs went 12-4 a season ago and won the AFC West. They were one of the hottest teams in the league last season and should see at least five of their guys make the cut, possibly even six or seven.

The ones who should for sure make appearances on the countdown are Eric Berry, Tyreek Hill, Derrick Johnson, Travis Kelce, and Marcus Peters with Chris Jones and even Dee Ford being potential early reveals.

More from KC Kingdom

Last year the Chiefs had an overwhelming nine players make the cut. Those guys were Jeremy Maclin (93), Travis Kelce (91), Tamba Hali (84), Alex Smith (81), Derrick Johnson (80), Jamaal Charles (75), Marcus Peters (65), Eric Berry (55), and Justin Houston (26).

Out of that group, as I mentioned Berry, Johnson, Kelce, and Peters will all be on the countdown again this year, but I can’t see Hali cracking the top 100. Hali’s age showed last season and he only accounted for 53% of the team’s snaps in 2016.

Smith could be a low entry due to his respect among the rest of the league, but he only threw 15 touchdowns and wasn’t as effective as he had been in seasons past.

Charles only played in two games and was released by the Chiefs after the season due to injury. Speaking of injury, Justin Houston could make an appearance, but he’d plummet a lot from his spot at 26 a year ago. He wasn’t the big pass rush threat that he had been in his better years.

Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce will be the two highest ranked players, no doubt. Both will easily be in the top 50 and could even be in the top 25.

What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Which Chiefs do you think will make the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017?
