The KC Royals just got swept on the road against the Texas Rangers. It was an ugly four game series where the Royals couldn’t score more than two runs in a game. Can they do better in their first series against the White Sox?

It hasn’t been a great start for the Kansas City Royals, but a lot of that has fallen on the lack of the offense producing runs. In their most recent series against the Rangers, the Royals once again looked horrendous offensively and were swept in four games.

Next up are the Chicago White Sox, who are 8-9 on the season, good for third in the division. The Royals are last right now with a 7-11 record and need to climb out of their four below .500 hole that they’ve dug themselves into.

The Royals begin their first series of the season against the White Sox and need to make a statement in these three games. If the Royals don’t start winning and looking competitive soon, it’ll be a fire sale come the trade deadline.

So, with all of that said, which Royals should we be watching in this series? Let’s take a look.

JORGE BONIFACIO

It was announced on Friday that the Kansas City Royals had called up outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to the major leagues. Bonifacio then made his MLB debut on Friday and went 0 for 3. He was slotted in as the number three hitter on Sunday and actually made an impact in the game.

In his first at bat on the day, Bonifacio had his first career hit against Yu Darvish. Two innings later, Bonifacio crushed his first major league home run and gave the Royals a 2-0 lead. They’d later go on to lose of course, but it wasn’t Bonifacio’s fault.

While Bonifacio won’t be with the team long, he’s shown that he can hit. He’s just a filler right now while the Royals wait for Jorge Soler to get through with his rehab stint in Omaha.

Jorge Bonifacio was one of the few bright spots in that series against the Rangers and hopefully he can continue to be a positive bat in this putrid lineup.
