While Mizzou football has been on a recent downward spiral, the amount of players they send to the NFL has actually been pretty impressive.

In their early years as apart of the SEC, the Mizzou football program actually lived up to their end of the deal. They won the SEC East in 2013 and in 2014, proving that they belonged in said conference.

In the past two seasons, however, the Tigers have been atrocious. MU has only notched nine wins in their past two seasons, but still have managed to send a fair amount of players to the NFL to live out their pro football dreams.

Unlike the K-State and KU editions of these same posts, the Tigers’ last ten guys to be drafted only takes us back to 2014. That is pretty impressive.

Even more impressive is the fact that six guys on this list were drafted out of Missouri in the 2015 NFL Draft. Six! That shows how good the Tigers were for their early years in the SEC and maybe they can get back to that soon.

Let’s start with the most recent member of the black and gold to hear his name called on draft day.

KENTRELL BROTHERS (Fifth-Round Pick, 160th Overall in 2016 NFL Draft)

With four seasons of college football under his belt at the University of Missouri, Kentrell Brothers was an interesting prospect heading into the NFL Draft.

Brothers realistically could have been selected anywhere from round two to the seventh round, but he fell in the middle. The Vikings ended up picking him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Brothers played in ten games for Minnesota during his rookie year and should improve more as the years go by. The former Tiger was recognized by Pro Football Focus as one of the best special teams players in 2016.

If a guy can make his presence known on special teams, that’s huge for any team. Coaches like special teams players and that should help Brothers grow into a more permanent role in the future.
