The KC Chiefs have never shied away from drafting several cornerbacks. Could they decide to add one of the best in the 2017 NFL Draft? If so, that could link them to Marshon Lattimore out of Ohio State.

When looking at all of the different cornerbacks to take snaps for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, one might wonder how their secondary still managed to be so good. Bob Sutton put together nice game plans, but this team definitely needs to add someone across from Marcus Peters.

Terrance Mitchell was a nice find for the few games he played in, but can he repeat that success in 2017? The jury is still out on that one.

With all of that said, Marshon Lattimore could make sense for the KC Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. The question is whether or not he’ll still be hanging around at pick 27.

One of the biggest concerns for Lattimore is that he really only played one healthy season while at Ohio State. The Buckeye was injury prone all throughout his time in Columbus, having to get surgery at one point due to issues with his hamstrings, according to NFL.com.

The Chiefs secondary was so beat down last season due to the various injuries that occurred that drafting a guy like Lattimore would be a huge risk. On the other hand, however, the kid can make plays.

Lattimore had four interceptions during his senior season in 2016 and was named First-Team All-Pro. He’s certainly shown he has the juice to be a legitimate cornerback in the NFL, but the past injury history is definitely concerning to say the least.

Dane Brugler of CBS Sports compares Lattimore to current Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins.

"With their fluid athleticism and cover skills, Lattimore has similar ability and upside as Jenkins, who is currently a top-10 cornerback in the NFL."

That’s a hell of a compliment, as Jenkins is without a doubt one of the best in the game right now.

An anonymous pro personnel director for an AFC team was quoted on NFL.com’s draft profile saying this about Lattimore,

"“I’ve studied the top cornerbacks coming out and he’s the best I’ve seen. He’s so athletic that he can just post up under the receiver’s chin and shadow him all over the field. And he’s tough, too. He’ll be one of the top cornerbacks pretty quickly.”"

Daniel Jeremiah had Lattimore going as the second overall pick to the 49ers, which just shows how unlikely it is that the KC Chiefs will even have a shot at drafting him. If Lattimore is still there at pick 27, one would have to imagine that the Chiefs would be a shoe-in to draft him.
