After a rough weekend for the Kansas City Chiefs, the AFC playoff picture looks completely different. Here’s how things stand now.

If it could have possibly gone wrong for the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, then it did go wrong. Of course, the Chiefs are largely to blame for their own mishaps. KC should be sitting with the second seed in the AFC playoffs and the lead in the AFC West division. Instead, the Chiefs lost to the Titans and are now holding a Wild Card.

That loss was matched by disappointing results that saw the Patriots, Raiders, Dolphins, Steelers, and Ravens all win. Seriously, this could not have been a worse weekend for the Chiefs. The results have done a number on the AFC playoff picture, including all but eliminating the Buffalo Bills.

As it stands, the playoff picture has drawn tighter, and may be largely settled after this next week of games. There are a number of teams that are essentially on their last leg in terms of chances. Of course, that isn’t too surprising given that we’re in Week 16 of the regular season. It should be expected that things are starting to settle into place.

I have to tell you though, whoever is in charge of scheduling for the NFL deserves a raise. The slate of games for the next couple of weeks is pretty impressive, with playoff contenders facing off. That is especially true in the AFC West where the race is still incredibly tight. The Kansas City Chiefs should still make the postseason, but they are going to earn their spot.
