The Kansas City Chiefs go on the road this week to take on the Atlanta Falcons. Here are all the details you need to be able to follow the game.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off of an instant classic on Sunday Night Football where they beat the Denver Broncos in overtime. This week they are traveling to Atlanta to take on the dangerous Falcons passing attack. The Chiefs need a win this week to keep pace with the Oakland Raiders in the AFC West. The Chiefs meet the Raiders at Arrowhead next week on Thursday night.

This week’s game is a bit of a toss up. The Chiefs are coming in still badly banged up, but the Falcons have a pair of key injuries as well. Atlanta’s vaunted deep passing game is getting a lot of well-deserved hype. However, the Chiefs ball control offense seems tailor made to vex the struggling Falcons defense.

If the Chiefs had even the slightest bit of luck when it came to injuries this year, I would say they would be heavily favored. However, with so many key starters either out or nicked up, it’s hard to say what this team can do. They still have an excellent shot at winning, but the injuries will still play a key role.

Andy Reid’s Winning Ways

With a victory over the Denver Broncos last week, Andy Reid guaranteed that he would avoid a losing season again for the Kansas City Chiefs. It is a stark contrast to the last few regimes in Kansas City. Reid took over a 2-14 team in 2013. Since then, the Chiefs haven’t finished with fewer than 10 wins in a season.

To put Reid’s success in KC into a historical context, it is the best four year start to a coaching regime in Kansas City history. Andy Reid has even surpassed the venerable Marty Schottenheimer who got off to a hot start for the Chiefs. All coach Reid is missing right now is that elusive Super Bowl victory, and this may be the team to go get it.

The 8-3 Chiefs control their destiny in the AFC playoff picture. As long as the Chiefs keep winning, they have a very good shot at securing a first round BYE. Kansas City is also in the hunt for home field advantage in the playoffs as they sit just a game behind the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs look to continue their march to the playoffs. The Chiefs rebounded nicely after their loss to the Buccaneers. Hopefully KC can generate some momentum off of their thrilling finish on Sunday night. A win over the Falcons this week will put them in prime position for the playoffs, especially with the Raiders having a tough game against the Bills this week. Keep winning Chiefs.
