The Kansas City Chiefs five game win streak came to an end on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here is how the team graded out in the loss.

The race for the AFC West firmly featured the Kansas City Chiefs at the top of the division until Sunday. The Chiefs lost a disappointing match up against what many people believed was an inferior team. Whether it was just a lackluster performance, a sign of real issues, or just injuries catching up, KC did not look good. Certainly, the Chiefs didn’t look like a top playoff contender.

The Chiefs sit at 7-3, so by no means does this game signify the end of their playoff chances. In fact, Kansas City still sits in solid position. Regardless of the outcome of the Tampa Bay game, this season was going to be defined by the results of the Chiefs remaining AFC West games.

Of course, the big news this week was the return of star pass rusher Justin Houston for the Chiefs. How did he look in his return? Well, to be honest, it was about what was expected. Houston had a slow day as he stepped on the field for the first time in almost a year.

We’ll call it an “incomplete” for right now. It’s pretty unfair to judge a player based on his first game back. You don’t really know what they are even capable of, and neither does the player. Even professional football players sometimes have to ease themselves back into things. Playing NFL football isn’t easy, and no amount of practice makes up for the real thing.

Unfortunately, Justin Houston’s grade this week is one of the best the Chiefs had. The team just didn’t have a very good day.
