The KC Royals’ 2016 season is pretty much done and over with. What were the biggest reasons that led to the boys in blue missing out on the postseason this year?

Well, Royals fans, it wasn’t the type of season we were hoping for after winning the World Series in 2015, but hey. It’s incredibly difficult to make it to the postseason in Major League Baseball and even more difficult to make it year in and year out.

With all of that said, however, it doesn’t mean that fans don’t have the right to be disappointed with this season’s results. We knew the Royals were going to have the odds stacked against them, as it’s difficult to make it to THREE straight World Series, but we all had hope that our favorite baseball team could do it.

Instead, the team sits right around .500 with seven games left on the season.

It’s been a tough pill to swallow knowing that the Kansas City Royals won’t be heading back to the playoffs to defend their crown, but it just wasn’t in the cards for the boys in blue to compete in October this year.

Let’s take a look at five reasons why this team missed out on the postseason in 2016.
