The KC Royals are off to an 8-3 start on the young season and Chris Young owns three losses. How are the Minor League teams doing?

The KC Royals had a great week of baseball. They lost the first game of a series in their return to Houston. The last time they traveled to Minute Maid Park they left everyone in shock with a stunning comeback win.

Even though they got blown out in the first game of the series, no Astros’ fans were likely very comfortable with any kind of lead until it was over.

They bounced back and wound up winning the series with Kris Medlen, Yordano Ventura, and Ian Kennedy showing off some impressive stuff. All of them earned wins for the Royals and made the Royals’ rotation look better than most anticipated.

They also won the first game of a three-game set in Oakland. Edinson Volquez labored for the win and Eric Hosmer provided a laser beam of a home run for insurance in the top of the ninth inning.

Chris Young came out for the Royals and yesterday’s game and promptly gave up a three-run home run to Josh Reddick. He has looked less than sharp in his last two outings.

So far he hasn’t been the same pitcher this season. Hopefully, that corrects itself soon but the Royals have options if he doesn’t course correct. It’s unfortunate that Kyle Zimmer has had another shoulder setback this Spring, but the Royals could look at Dillon Gee to step into the rotation.

The Royals appear to be set to stun PECOTA again this year and probably won’t need much help from their minor league teams this year. But what awaits the Royals in the future? Let’s take a look at what’s going on in the Royals’ farm system.
