Today’s KC Chiefs news focuses on the latest reports of Eric Berry extension talks, a recent Derrick Johnson poll, Dee Ford’s confident tweet, Maurice Jones-Drew, and the 2016 NFL schedule.

The KC Chiefs cap situation is currently in flux.

According to Spotrac, the KC Chiefs have $548,172 in cap space after draft spending but without accounting for the cap hits of Charcandrick West, Jimmy Wilson, and Stevie Brown.

Many concluded that best way for the KC Chiefs to free up more cap space is to sign Eric Berry to a contract extension.

These people have grown impatient watching Berry go un-extended.

In response, Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reported reason for optimism regarding Berry contract talks.

Robinson assured doubters that the KC Chiefs would most likely wait until after the 2016 NFL Draft to start talks with Berry.

Unlike Berry’s negotiations, hype for Derrick Johnson could not be delayed until after the NFL Draft.

In celebration of being just 15 days away from the 2016 NFL Draft, College Football 24/7 held a Twitter poll asking which number 15 overall pick was the best from 1996 to the present.

The results from this poll indicate that Twitter has great respect for the KC Chiefs linebacker.

Also, continuing with KC Chiefs linebacker news from Twitter, Dee Ford tweeted out a noteworthy declaration.

Ford’s tweet appears to acknowledge high expectations for the upcoming season in 2016.

This tweet is somewhat encouraging for the KC Chiefs and KC faithful, but not everybody was impressed.

The following tweet appeared at the top of responses to Ford’s original tweet and shows a GIF of Ford playing less than spectacular defense against the San Francisco 49ers.

Unlike this user, former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew had some encouraging things to say about the KC Chiefs.

In fact, MJD even picked the KC Chiefs as his Super Bowl 51 favorites on NFL Network.

Luckily, the path to proving MJD right in 2016 will become a little clearer with the release of the 2016 NFL Regular Season Schedule.

The announcement of the 2016 NFL Schedule dates will occur on April 14th at 7 PM CST.

Ford could stand to learn some tips for winning over the divisive audiences of Twitter from Johnson.

In addition to the Twitter mob, impatient speculators, like myself, can apparently relax about the status of Berry’s contract negotiations.

MJD’s Super Bowl 51 endorsement of the KC Chiefs may help to this effect, but, ultimately, the NFL will not let fans rest just yet.

As you know, the cult of the NFL is a year-long commitment, and the announcement of the 2016 NFL Regular Season Schedule is upon us.
