KC Royals news consists of opening week and all of the festivities surrounding the team after their World Series title in 2015.

The Kansas City Royals brought home their first World Series title in 30 years and with that, they dedicated their first two games of the 2016 season to their World Series victory.

In an odd turn of events, the Royals celebrated their World Series victory at Kauffman Stadium in front of the very same team whom they took the crown from in 2015 – the New York Mets. It had to be awkward for the Mets on Sunday when the Royals were raising the flag in front of them and showing clips of their first championship title in three decades.

Not only did the Mets have to stand by and watch the flag being raised, they’ll have to stand around and endure more pain on Tuesday, as the Royals will receive their World Series rings before the game. Oh, not to mention that the Royals opened the season up wearing jerseys and hats with their logo written in gold. That’s what champions do, man.

While this isn’t the Royals’ fault that they just happen to face the Mets, it has to be pretty awkward for them as well. Ned Yost has even gone on the record saying that he could have enjoyed Sunday’s events more had the Royals not been playing against the team they beat in the World Series, according to ESPN.

The Kansas City Royals continued to frustrate the Mets by beating them on Sunday by a score of 4-3. Edinson Volquez pitched six scoreless innings and Eric Hosmer had three hits on the night. Omar Infante even had two hits!

The Royals led 4-0 heading into the eighth inning, but a shaky debut from Joakim Soria made the game a little bit closer than fans had hoped. Luke Hochevar came in and stopped the bleeding and Wade Davis went on to close things out, but the Royals came out on top in their first game of the season.
