Today’s KC Chiefs news is focused on the Chiefs’ remaining off-season moves. Could Josh Gordon be a trade target for the Chiefs?

Josh Gordon burst onto the scene back in 2013 when he caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards. That’s nearly 19 yards per catch! He also recorded nine touchdowns that season with less than stellar quarterbacks throwing him the football.

He put up all of those stats in only 14 games. He missed the first two games of the year due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. That would only be the beginning of his off-field issues.

In 2014, Gordon was suspended for season for another violation of the leagues substance abuse policy. It was later reduced to ten games but Gordon would only play in five games that year. He was suspended by the Browns in the final game of the season for a violation of team rules.

In 2015, Gordon was suspended by the league for a full year for testing positive in a test to prove whether or not he had consumed alcohol. He’s had his slew of problems off the field, but he’s got a lot of upside on the field. Plus, it’s not all bad.

His contract is just over one million dollars so he wouldn’t put the Chiefs over their cap. He’s also a restricted free agent following the season so at worst he’d be a one year commitment. Because he’s likely trying to earn a big contract next year, he may be motivated to get his act together.

Josh Gordon certainly comes with a fair amount of risk. Should he prove himself unable to control his off the field issues, then he’d not only be a failed move, but he’d be a distraction.

Andy Reid has a history of working with players who have been troubled in the past. Perhaps he’d be willing to take a flyer on a guy like Gordon.

Next: Has Jamaal Charles Lost a Step?

The Chiefs would certainly look formidable with all of those weapons on the field at the same time. Josh Gordon is a legitimate number one receiver. Having him on the field along with Jeremy Maclin would open up the offense quite a bit. Between Jamaal Charles, Jeremy Maclin, Travis Kelce, and Josh Gordon someone would be bound to be open.

So what do you think KC Chiefs’ fans? Would you take a run at Josh Gordon? Is he worth the risk? What would you give up for a player of his caliber? Let me know your thoughts in the comments’ section below.
