NFL free agency began on Wednesday and the Kansas City Chiefs retained players and lost players. What were the good, the bad, and the ugly moments from the 2016 NFL free agency period in Kansas City?

If someone were to ask me what the worst case scenario was for the KC Chiefs in free agency this year, I’d have said losing Sean Smith, Jaye Howard, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, and not being able to bring in anyone due to cap issues.

Fortunately, only one of those happened in Kansas City. Sean Smith departed for the AFC West rival Oakland Raiders, but the rest of those guys mentioned above are coming back to Kansas City in 2016 and beyond. Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali will likely be Chiefs for life after the contracts they signed, which is fantastic news.

There was certainly more good than bad in this year’s free agency session, but there was some bad and even some ugly.

Let’s take a look at each of these areas regarding the Kansas City Chiefs’ free agency this offseason.
