KC Chiefs News: Heading in the Right Direction

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Chiefs news focuses on impending free agency and about how the team looks to be headed in the right direction.

The Kansas City Chiefs have posted three straight winning seasons. They went 11-5 in 2013, 9-7 in 2014, and 11-5 in 2015. Two of those seasons saw the team make the playoffs and one of them saw the Chiefs actually winning a playoff game.

It certainly appears that the KC Chiefs are in their window when it comes to contending for a title, but free agency could play a large part in that. The Chiefs have too many players hitting free agency, and not enough money to bring them all back.

While that sucks, it’s the name of the game, folks.

Guys like Jaye Howard and Sean Smith are likely going to be with different teams in 2016 and beyond. They’re big talents and deserve to get paid as such.

Fortunately, the AFC West will look completely different next year With the impending retirement of Peyton Manning, the Broncos will have a new leader running their offense, and this could be a good year for the Chiefs to win the division for the first time since 2010.

While the Broncos are the defending champions, the Chiefs were only one game out of winning the division last season. They have unfinished business and 2016 should look to be a continuation of what the Chiefs couldn’t accomplish just a season ago.

Kansas City Chiefs should look into Brandon Brooks [Joe Soriano, NFL Spin Zone]

"It would be more prudent for the Chiefs to sign someone a bit cheaper, and while Houston Texans guard Brandon Brooks wouldn’t exactly be out of the bargain bin, he’s an excellent option at a more palatable price."

Free agency begins this week in the NFL, and the Chiefs could potentially be hit pretty hard in the first few days. Luckily, John Dorsey has shown that he’s a pretty good general manager in his three years on the job, and the Chiefs can hopefully find some talent to replace the departures.
