KC Royals news consists of different players and what their outlook for the 2016 season is. Will they progress or regress this year?

Spring training is underway in Surprise, Arizona for the Kansas City Royals, as all players reported on Monday. The team is looking to defend their World Series title this year, and they’ll do so with the majority of their players returning.

This team staying intact for another season is great for the Royals and they can continue to use the chemistry to their advantage. That chemistry got this team all the way to their second straight World Series, and ultimately got them the title.

Last season, the team saw both progression and regression from their players. Some notable progression players were guys like Kendrys Morales, Edinson Volquez, and Chris Young.

Morales was five years removed from a season ending ankle injury that he got from celebrating a walk-off grand slam. Volquez was in the first year of a two-year deal with the Royals and pitched incredibly well all season long. Young was a great signing by Dayton Moore, as he was able to rotate between the rotation and the bullpen.

While there were players that progressed, there were also some that had struggles in 2015. Yordano Ventura is the first to come to mind in this category and at one point he was so bad that he was actually demoted to Triple-A. Omar Infante is another regression candidate and it wouldn’t be shocking if he lost out on his second base job to Christian Colon this year.
