Chiefs News: Husain Abdullah, Reid better in KC, and More

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Chiefs news is highlighted with Husain Abdullah on his way back from injury, Chiefs attempting to avoid Khalil Mack Sunday, and Chiefs’ potential matchups in playoffs.

The KC Chiefs are heading into Week 17 with a chance to win the AFC West after starting the season 1-5 and losing their best player in running back Jamaal Charles. They have been sensational ever since then, winning nine straight due in large part to quarterback Alex Smith.

Smith has been the leader of the team’s resurgence, really turning the offensive struggles around even without Charles. He and Jeremy Maclin have combined for quite the tandem for Kansas City standards. We always seem to have strong running backs opposed to quarterbacks and receivers.

Andy Reid has resurected his career in Kansas City, clinching his second playoff berth in three years. Reid was lucky to get out of Philadelphia as you can see with what’s going on there. Chip Kelly was just fired by the Eagles just before the start of Week 17. They wouldn’t even let him finish the season.

In Kansas City, with success like this he will not have to worry about his job security whatsoever. Chefs’ fans already love him and want him to be here for years to come.

Take a look at what the internet is saying about Chiefs’ news over the last couple of days:

KC Chiefs Looking like Super Bowl Contenders [NFL.com]

"Skeptics might question whether Smith is elite based on his production and reputation as a conservative game manager, but there’s no disputing his ability to win games as an opportunistic playmaker for the Chiefs. The 11th-year pro has guided the team to 29 wins in three seasons as the starter, displaying outstanding management skills as the director of Reid’s quick-rhythm offense. He efficiently works through his progressions to hit the open receiver based on the reaction of the coverage."

‘Pretty good chance’ Husain Abdullah returns to Chiefs this week after multi-week absence [Arrowhead Addict]

"Husain Abdullah was concussed in the Kansas City Chiefs Week 12 game against the Buffalo Bills and hasn’t played since. That could be changing this week as Andy Reid indicated Abdullah could return to practice this week:“I think he’s close, close to being back here. Pretty good chance he’ll be back this week. We’ll see. Again, that’s kind of the day-by-day thing we’re talking about.”"

Getting Abdullah back before the playoffs is huge, as he could fit in better in the playoffs if he gets a week to knock the rust off before it really counts. I really hope he is given the green green light for Sunday.
