KC Chiefs Inactives: Justin Houston Out Vs Ravens

facebooktwitterreddit

The KC Chiefs defense will be without linebacker Justin Houston again versus Baltimore Ravens.

The Kansas City Chiefs (8-5) take to the road today in an AFC matchup against John Harbaugh and the Ravens (4-9). Baltimore will be without quarterback Joe Flacco, but no trip up to M&T Bank Stadium is an easy one.

The AFC Playoff race still a crowded mess as of today. Only the New England Patriots have really locked up its division, while the Chiefs, Steelers and Jets look to make a final push towards playoff land.

Today, the Chiefs are without All Pro linebacker Justin Houston. He’s still bothered by a knee injury sustained in the Bills game, which means it’s more time for second-year guy Dee Ford.

Running back Spencer Ware is active, but he’ll be limited. Look for Charcandrick West to be the lead back in the Chiefs’ offense today. The Chiefs have had a revolving door at running back this season, and it’s worked just fine so far.

The Chiefs will also be without wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas. He’s missed the last few games with what we assume is an injury related to the concussion he sustained against the Chargers in Week 11.

Chiefs Inactives

So first things first: Houston is out. It’s a growing concern for the Chiefs, who will play without Houston for the third straight week. They’re 3-0 without him, but it’s not a good sign that three weeks later he still can’t take the field. The most important thing will be getting him healed for the playoffs.

Tackle Jeff Allen was listed on the injury report this week, and he is inactive today. The newly signed Jah Reid looks to have an increased role on the offensive line against Elvis Dumervil and the Ravens pass rush.

Other Chiefs who were listed on the injury report but who will be active today: QB Chase Daniel, DE Mike DeVito, TE Travis Kelce.

Ravens Inactives

The Ravens pass rush always seems to present a formidable front. However this season, Dumervil leads the team with just six sacks. Baltimore is 20th in the league in total sacks.

While the Chiefs are second in the NFL with 18 interceptions, the Baltimore Ravens are dead last with just four.

John Harbaugh will have his team ready to play, so it’s absolutely a challenge for the Chiefs today. But without their starting quarterback, it’s a good day for the Chiefs to steal one on the road.
