KC Chiefs Inactives: Justin Houston, Allen Bailey Out Vs Raiders

facebooktwitterreddit

The KC Chiefs defense will be shorthanded today without Justin Houston and Allen Bailey versus Oakland Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Raiders today in what should be a bitter AFC West matchup.  The Chiefs have won five straight games – by a combined 99 points – and they still don’t have a team with a winning record remaining on the schedule.

The Chiefs are without All Pro linebacker Justin Houston today, who hyperextended his knee last week against the Bills. That means second-year linebacker Dee Ford is line for big minutes against a good Raiders offense.

Houston is tied for seventh in the NFL with 7.5 sacks. He’s added two interceptions, six passes defended, a forced fumble and a touchdown. The happiest person in Oakland today is Raiders’ right tackle Austin Howard.

Running back Charcandrick West will be back on the field today with running mate Spencer Ware. Both figure to get a solid workload as the Chiefs offense continues to evolve.

The Chiefs will also be without wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas.

Chiefs Inactives

So first things first: Houston and Bailey are out. That’s a huge hit to the Chiefs left front, and the Raiders surely will test that side of the line. Bailey will miss his third consecutive game with a calf injury.

Abdullah is out with a neck injury, which could open up some snaps for former Raider Tyvon Branch at the safety position.

Other Chiefs who were listed on the injury report but who will be active today: Eric Fisher, Jeff Allen, Dustin Colquitt and Mike DeVito.

Raiders Inactives

The Raiders run out a solid tandem of wide receivers in Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper, and the two have good chemistry, according to KCChiefs.com:

"“They’re like big brothers,” Carr said of Cooper and Crabtree. “They both root for each other, they’re both each other’s biggest fan, and I think that those two are like the perfect blend to be together, especially with their personalities. They’re two guys that get along well.”"

Chiefs corner Marcus Peters will have his hands full as he returns to his hometown for the first time in his NFL career.

Former Chief Rodney Hudson will not play in his first game against his former team today. The Raiders paid him a nice sum of money this offseason, but Hudson will have to wait a few weeks to play against Kansas City.
