KU Basketball: Where To Watch Jayhawks Vs Vanderbilt

facebooktwitterreddit

KU Basketball plays for Maui Invitational Championship tonight versus Vanderbilt.

The Kansas Jayhawks cruised into the final round of the 2015 Maui Jim Maui Invitational for a matchup tonight against the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Jayhawks defeated UCLA last night 92-73 for its second win in two nights.

No. 5 Kansas (3-1) never trailed in last night’s drubbing of the Bruins. KU shot 54 percent from the field, allowed just 45 percent shooting to the opponent and converted 18-of-21 free throw attempts.

No. 19 Vanderbilt (5-0) put on an impressive performance themselves, defeating Danny Manning‘s Wake Forest team 86-64 on their way to a spot in the 12th and final game of the tournament. That’s after they defeated St. John’s 92-55 on Monday.

Still no word on freshman Cheick Diallo, as the broken record continues to play. Certain Kansas officials, apparently are fed up, criticized the NCAA’s handling of the situation, according to Yahoo News. Diallo is with the team in Maui, but he hasn’t been cleared to play. The good news: things are pointing to an NCAA ruling soon, and that should bring some answers for Diallo and KU Basketball.

This is primetime, so you can watch the game at home on ESPN. In any other case, you’ll likely have to find a different spot to watch the KU Basketball take on Vanderbilt.

Perry Ellis led the Jayhawks with 24 points, six rebounds and one assist. Wayne Selden Jr. added 15 points on four-of-five shooting from the arc, and Frank Mason III went for 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists. Svi Mykhailiuk led all KU players with 13 shot attempts from the field.

Vanderbilt gives Kansas another solid early-season opponent. Head coach Kevin Stallings was hired at Kansas in 1988 by Roy Williams. He’s the winningest coach in Vanderbilt history, but his teams have missed the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons. He’ll have his team ready to play tonight.

Kansas got some bittersweet news before the game yesterday: longtime play-by-play broadcaster, and all-around great Jayhawk, Bob Davis will call it a career in a matter of months, according to The KC Star‘s Rustin Dodd:

After tonight’s game, the ‘Hawks are off until Dec. 1 when they take on Loyola Maryland in Allen Fieldhouse. That’s their only game in the next nine days, so a victory tonight would be met with a few much-needed days of rest after playing three consecutive days in Hawaii.

The Jayhawks got a total team effort last night in the Semis, and it will take much of the same to win its third game in three nights. It stands to be best test KU will get out in Maui, how do you think Kansas will handle a good Vanderbilt team?
