KU Basketball: Where to Watch Fort Hays State Exhibition

facebooktwitterreddit

The KU basketball team will play their second exhibition of the year Tuesday against the Fort Hays State Tigers at Allenhouse Fieldhouse.

The Kansas Jayhawks overcame a sluggish start against Pittsburg State before going on a nice run to end the first half. They ended up with a comfortable 89-66 win. Head coach Bill Self has to hope things will go easier against Fort Hays State.

The Kansas big men ended up dominating in the game against the Gorillas. Senior forward Perry Ellis scored 22 and ripped down 12 rebounds. Junior Hunter Mickelson added ten points, six rebounds, and four blocks.

Freshman Carlton Bragg looked at ease in his first game in a Jayhawks’ uniform. He knocked in 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, and swatted away two.

Expect more in this vein from the Jayhawks against Fort Hays. KU needs to build their confidence in their interior players as they prepare for games that will count.

KU Basketball Live Stream: ESPN 3

Once again, you can watch the game in the comfort of your own home if you are a subscriber of Time Warner, Comcast, or WOW! (Lawrence). If not, you can catch the KU Basketball live stream on ESPN 3, unless you live in Kansas or western Missouri, where the game is blacked out, and then you have to find a nice bar and grill in which to watch.

With the Cheick Diallo situation still unclear, Carlton Bragg may be forced into a bigger role than originally planned. It was encouraging to see the freshman up to the task, at least against Pittsburg State.

According to Gary Bedore from KUSports.com, Bill Self was more than pleased with Bragg.

"“I thought he was the best player in the game,” KU coach Bill Self said of Bragg. “He played with energy. He played with a smile on his face. I thought he did terrific for a young kid out there. What Perry gave us was his standard. I thought he (Bragg) was the best player in the game. All our players did, too, in the locker room.”"

It will be fun to see if Bragg follows up that performance against another school opponent. Michigan State looms on the schedule in a week, and the Jayhawks will need a strong, physical presence on the inside, especially if Diallo has not been cleared to play be then.

The Jayhawks did receive some bad news this week. Harry Giles, one of the top recruits in the country, chose to attend Duke next season.
