The KC Royals are enjoying incredible success in 2015 as they sit atop the American League going into the weekend of August.

The Kansas City Royals enjoy a 13-game lead in the American League Central and have a seven-game lead in the American League as a whole. Winning is great, but what is the cost? Will the Royals be able to afford to keep winning in 2016?

According to Spotrac.com, the KC Royals have $122,501,269 tied up in total salaries this season. The payroll includes active salaries, Disabled List money, and other contracts on the 40-man roster.

The Glass family allowed Dayton Moore to spend more than has ever been spent by this franchise, and it has paid off in victories. The Royals are 79-49 with three more days to go in August.

The Royals have rewarded management for taking some chances on the payroll in 2015.

No matter how far the Royals advance in the playoffs, where anything can happen in any short series, the Royals have had one of their most successful seasons ever.

The Glass family allowed Dayton Moore to spend more than has ever been spent by this franchise, and it has paid off in victories.

Will the Royals continue to spend in 2016? Kauffman Stadium has been darn near full all season.

According to ESPN, they are averaging 33,415 fans per home game through 66 games.  Over two million have flocked to Kauffman Stadium this season to witness winning like they have seen in 35 years.

Between ticket sales, concessions, parking, shirts, bats, and other memorabilia sales, not to mention post-season ticket sales, the Royals should be flush going into the offseason. So, how much of that new-found wealth will the Royals have to fork over?
