Kansas Jayhawks Recruiting: Josh Jackson Has KU on His List

facebooktwitterreddit

When you think of Kansas Jayhawks basketball, you think about winning. Eleven straight Big 12 titles has to be a consideration for recruits.

The 2015-2016 season hasn’t even started yet, but the Kansas Jayhawks recruiting news is beginning to heat up.

The Kansas Jayhawks have three consecutive seasons of signing a recruit within the top five in Andrew Wiggins, Cliff Alexander, and Cheick Diallo according to 247 sports.

Josh Jackson is a highly ranked five-star small forward from Prolific Prep in Napa, California. He is originally from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan before he moved to California to play there.

The 6’7 shooting guard/ small forward is within the top three of 247 sports, ESPN, and Rivals, making him one of the highest ranked players in high school basketball.

In the past year, the Jayhawks have been the leaders for Jackson in 247 sports’ crystal ball. In late March, he cut his list to nine including Arizona, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, N.C. State, North Carolina, and UCLA in alphabetical order.

Not long ago, he received an offer from Maryland and added them to his list. The crystal ball shows Arizona being the leader at 50% with Kansas and Maryland right behind them.

He unofficially visited Maryland on Monday the 17th of August. Jackson stated to Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog that “He could envision himself at Maryland”. This statement could boost the Terps up in the crystal ball tremendously.

He will soon take official visits to Arizona, Michigan State, and the Jayhawks. There is some speculation that he could choose to play overseas as well.

At the height of 6’7 Jackson has that much more of an advantage over other shooting guards and small forwards. His athleticism and ability to find the hoop are natural and talented giving him the leadership role on any team he plays on.

He is currently taking part in the Elite 24 sponsored by Under Armour and won the dunk contest throwing up a ridiculous slam.

Jackson could contribute big-time for the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team next season as they don’t have a real small forward. His game and his humble personality would fit for the Jayhawks,  making them that much more of a threat next season.

No doubt he would be the team’s starting small forward if he were to choose the Kansas route but could be a while before he makes his decision. He would be a huge pick up after losing Terrance Ferguson to Alabama.

If you are going to attend Late Night in the Phog on October 9th, make sure you let Jackson know he would be a perfect fit for the Kansas Jayhawks.
