KC Chiefs: Looking Forward To Seattle Seahawks Game

facebooktwitterreddit

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Arizona Cardinals 34-19 in Week 1 of the preseason and will no go up against the Seattle Seahawks and the Legion of Boom in Week 2 of the preseason. The game is Friday, August 21st at 7:00 local time.

In Week 1 versus the Cardinals, the KC Chiefs saw a lot from backup quarterback Chase Daniel, throwing for 3 touchdowns on 17-for-21 passing and not turning the ball over once. He finished with over a 143.8 quarterback rating in the game, and really in my mind proved that he’s worth his contract which is one of the largest for backup quarterbacks in the NFL.

Other notable headlines from the Cardinals game include starting running back Jamaal Charles sitting out and not getting a single carry (not that it was necessary that he did), and a solid defensive effort all around as all three teams all played pretty well against the Cardinals offense.

Against the Seahawks in Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs first appearance in Kansas City for the 2015 preseason, look for Jamaal’s impact to again be small to non-existent as Andy Reid and the coaching staff know exactly what they are going to get from him on a weekly basis in the regular season.

Also expect starting offensive tackle and former first overall pick Eric Fisher to miss the game as well, as he has sustained a high ankle sprain earlier this week in practice.

Make sure to read more about Fisher’s injury at the Kansas City Star’s link above.

Against the Seahawks, the Chiefs and their first team should play at least the first quarter again, and we may see coach Reid open up the playbook a little bit more in order to see what he has to deal with heading into the regular season. No better place to work out the kinks in an offense than during the preseason against arguably one of the best secondaries in the history of the NFL.

Look for Alex Smith to try to hit Maclin again early and often during the short period that they are on the field. I also expect Travis Kelce to make a large impact on this game as well, especially if Charles is out of the lineup again.

On the defensive side of the ball, look again for Eric Berry to have another emotional homecoming at Arrowhead Stadium that can hopefully spark the defense to play well against Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, and the rest of the Seattle Seahawks offense.

The KC Chiefs need to come out of this game injury-free, with a more solid idea of what the roster might look like on opening day.
