KC Chiefs News: Training Camp Tidbits

facebooktwitterreddit

KC Chiefs news this morning focuses around training camp and everything surrounding it.

The Kansas City Chiefs are underway at training camp and there have been a lot of interesting things to take away from it thus far. With an exciting season expected from our Chiefs in 2015, fans are stoked to see their favorite football players back in action, and why shouldn’t they be? 2015 will hopefully be a season for the books.

One of the biggest weaknesses in 2014 was the offensive line and John Dorsey did his part to upgrade it during the off season. Yes, the Chiefs lost Rodney Hudson at center, but Eric Kush is entering his third season and should be prepared for the task. Ben Grubbs was also brought in to help along the line.

The Chiefs also added a legit wide receiver threat in Jeremy Maclin. The Chiefs, as you all likely heard about by now, were the only team in the NFL not to have a wide receiver haul in a touchdown last season.

Things were shaken up a bit when Dontari Poe was announced out indefinitely due to a herniated disk. Poe’s absence will hurt the defense, but hopefully it won’t hurt them to the point where it cost them games this season.

"From all indications over the first three days, the Chiefs will roll out a unit of Eric Fisher, Ben Grubbs, Eric Kush, Jeff Allen and Donald Stephenson from left to right, barring injuries. If this is the case, the team will be starting three different players from the Week 1 group last year, and Allen is going to be starting at guard instead of tackle."

"In projecting fantasy football defenses, the most significant factor in these rankings is the team’s Front-7. If you don’t have a line full of savages and some threat of a pass rush, I’m not betting on your defense to help my fantasy football team."

"Of course, the hot topic right now is at defensive tackle. With Dontari Poe down and expected to miss at least one game, Chiefs fans are anxious to ensure that it doesn’t result in losses. The top candidates being thrown around are…"

Chiefs prove their willingness to give players second chances [FOX Sports]

"Their first-round pick, Marcus Peters, was thrown off his team at Washington because he could not get along with new coach Chris Peterson. But the Chiefs insist that they researched the star cornerback, who might have been a top 10 pick had he stayed out of trouble, and came away confident that Peters had learned from his mistakes and was unlikely to repeat them."

Kansas City Chiefs showing faith in wide receiver Albert Wilson [Adam Teicher, ESPN.com]

"Wilson is also fast, has good hands and has proven himself to be a willing blocker. By the end of the season, Wilson may reward the Chiefs for their decision in making Maclin their only free-agent acquisition at wide receiver."
