Madden 16: Three KC Chiefs Top Five At Their Position

facebooktwitterreddit

EA Sports continues to release its player ratings for Madden NFL 16, and they have revealed three KC Chiefs players as of today. They are releasing ratings by position, only listing the five highest-rated players at each spot.

Madden ratings are actually a fairly accurate, unbiased evaluation of NFL players. They’re not perfect, but they’re worth more than “some video game” says my favorite player is good. Madden ratings are thorough and generally useful.

Tops for the KC Chiefs is outside linebacker Justin Houston with an overall rating of 97. He’s tied for the highest at his position with Denver Broncos’ pass-rush phenom Von Miller.

While Justin Houston is a 98 overall in the Power Move category, Von Miller is 99 overall in the Finesse Move category. Pretty interesting clash of styles from across the division, and certainly two of the best defensive players in the NFL. Not to say Houston can’t get to the quarterback in other ways (89 Finesse Move rating).

Here’s what EA had to say on its website about Houston:

"Houston signed the biggest contract for a linebacker in NFL history after posting 22 sacks in 2014. He earns it in Madden NFL 16 with 97 Pursuit, 92 Tackle, 88 Play Recognition, and 93 BKS/98 PWM/89 FNM."

Of the 55 players revealed so far, exactly four players have a higher rating than Houston: Rodgers, Watt, Gronkowski are rated 99 overall, and Yanda is rated 98 overall. That’s right. Marshall Yanda holding it down for all the offensive guards across the league.

The next highest rated KC Chief holds the franchise record for most rushing yards: running back Jamaal Charles.

His overall rating of 94 puts him tied for third at his position. He’s tied with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell.

Here’s what EA had to say about Charles:

"Charles has everything you want in an all-purpose back, including 95 ELUS/92 SPD/92 ACC/98 AGI. You want moves? He has 97 Juke Move and 94 Spin Move. Don’t forget the league-best 86 CTH."

Charles has been a staple at the top of Madden’s running back lists for a couple seasons. As much fun as he is to play with in the game, it still can’t sniff what he does in reality.

Good to see EA recognize Charles’ ability to catch, giving him the highest catch rating of any back in the game.

A pleasant surprise was the Chiefs third top-five rating. Tight end Travis Kelce is the fifth-highest rated at his position at a 91 overall. He’s behind only Gronkowski, Graham (95), Witten (93) and Olsen (92). In other words, he’s on the brink of becoming a top 3 tight end in the NFL. If he can stay healthy – and hold on to the football – there’s no reason he’s not primed to pass Witten and Olsen in the near future.

EA so far has revealed its Top 10 Rookies and Top 5 for Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, Offensive Linemen, Tight Ends, Middle Linebackers, Outside Linebackers, Defensive Ends and Defensive Tackles.

Either they have a separate category for Nose Tackles, or Rams’ second-year defensive tackle Aaron Donald is rated higher than Dontari Poe. Let’s hope the latter isn’t the case.
